Without understanding the vision, scope and requirements in detail, the eCommerce project can be at risk for being undefined and ultimately putting budget and timing estimates at risk. The Pre-Study is the first step towards eCommerce success. It's a separate non-binding project to evaluate project feasibility. As a result Vaimo will provide you a better understanding of the deliverables, ambition levels and cost related to the different phases of the project.


The initial phase of any project is about establishing a shared understanding about what we are to achieve. In short, lots of questions. The majority of the work in this track is made up of a series of workshops around the project, design and development. The goal is to end up with shared views of your eCommerce site requirements in the form of prototypes and solution designs.


Our project team works through the discovery notes, prototypes and solution designs to define the project objectives, project scope, estimated budget and suggested timeline. The end result is a statement of work document that breaks down the implementation services in the form of a backlog for better understanding and management of scope, costs and timeline.


We continue where we left off on the prototypes and we complete the Information Architecture, Interaction Design and Visual Design. Throughout this process we work closely with you and we continue with revisions until a final design is approved by you.

This is where agile, scrum and sprints come in with full force. We work through your prioritised backlog via a series of iterations called sprints which are typically 2 weeks long. Before each sprint, we plan and prioritise the most important tasks for the upcoming sprint. During each sprint we do our very best to complete the development and testing for the tasks committed to the sprint. At the end of the 2 week sprint, we demonstrate the deliverables from the sprint and make this available for further testing and acceptance as per an agreed definition of Done.

This is where your team learns the platform, completes configuration tasks and populates the system with the required content with the necessary guidance and support from your project team. Your team also defines and prepares tests for key user journeys and continuously performs system testing to find issues that would prevent you from moving to the Launch track.


Your team focuses on trying to find any issues that would prevent you from accepting the system while our team focuses on resolving the issues as speedily as possible. Once you give us the green light for User Acceptance, we do final preparations and work through our launch checklist. We help you launch the new site and provide hand-holding support during the stabilisation period before transitioning over to the Continuous Maintenance Phase.



After going live with the first version, we focus on getting a steady cycle of continuous development and optimisation in place. At Vaimo, we call this the maintenance mode. 


Data analysis, user tests and other sources of insight are the basis for both new features and maintenance tasks. They are combined into a design and development backlog that is prioritised and planned - one sprint at a time.


For tasks that require visual or solution design, the UX, Strategy and System Architect teams make sure to deliver in line with eCommerce best-practice.


A development and test cycle in maintenance mode is typically one or two sprints long. We focus on small and frequent releases rather than big and few.


Final testing, preparations and release of everything included in this cycle before starting the maintenance mode over again.


Over the years we have seen great results when applying Agile methodology as the basis for deploying our eCommerce projects. By varying the shade of Agile and modifying our project management processes to match the individual client's preferences and requirements, we can trust that both sides will feel comfortable with the delivery process.

Every project we take on will have a dedicated project manager (PM) and a delivery team assigned to. The Project Manager acts as a link between the client and rest of the cross-competence team consisting of Backend & Front end Developers, QA Developers and a System Architect. We encourage weekly meetings with our clients and continuous follow-ups between both sides but the exact way of communication is worked out between the client and Project Manager.

Our main focus is on creating a single point of contact between Vaimo and the client. From the project standpoint we want to be able to rapidly adapt to changes- be fast & communicate effectively.
